Leah Grey was still in her twenties when her life fell apart. She couldn’t decide what was more depressing- the state of her marriage, or the fact that she lived in Jersey City instead of Manhattan.

In her debut book, No One Brings You a Casserole When Your Husband Goes to Rehab, is a poignant, coming-of-age story about curly-haired boys and the dark side of having your dreams come true.

“More devastating than my husband’s drug use, the last thing I’d ever wanted was to move back to the place I’d come from. There couldn’t have been anything worse, especially after having lived in New York. There would be nothing to do, nowhere to go. No more trendy restaurants or impromptu concerts in the street. No more subway rides to baseball games at Yankee Stadium or trips on the Staten Island Ferry. No more of the European shops found only in New York and Paris. No more museums admissible by donation only. My dream of becoming a real New York writer seemed to be dead.

And I would never eat cheesecake the same way again.”

Love this book and her story! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thought this was creatively crafted and written -you can tell just by the title. I love the personal experience she shares and as always, I have so many questions at the end of the book that I want to know more!! It gives hope and realistic faith-based approach to women in this situation while not avoiding all the hardships. Def worth it!

A healthy 29 year old husband and father of 4 kids in a beautiful and healthy marriage, I grabbed your book from a local store because the awesome title. What an incredible story. Felt I wasn’t reading a book but listening to you audibly tell me your story.

Hope when God tells you to stay ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was like reading my own story…loving a husband who is an addict, and continues to relapse over and over. God told me stay, too, and this book was assurance that He wants me to keep looking to Him, just as Leah does, and that I am equipped, with God to do it. If you too, feel called to stay, this book is a must read. Full of biblical wisdom, humor, raw emotion, and the pain it is to love someone so deeply even when it makes no sense.

Soooooo refreshing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book is gut wrenchingly honest about the rollercoaster of loving someone with an active addiction. However, if you’ve already experienced what that’s like, then it’ll feel refreshingly relatable
instead of just plain sad.

And the best part is that Leah writes with a lightness that never gets lost in the horrible and hard stuff. It’s comical, dare I say whimsical, and the lightest piece of literature you’ve probably ever come across on the topic of addiction.

Listen, it still might trigger you and all your own rollercoaster emotions (it did for me!) but that means all that stuff is sitting inside you anyway, so it’s a great time to process it, because this book never
forgets about hope - for you and your loved one. Hope holds it together, and that’s something we need in this book genre!!

As soon as I finished it, I was eager to share it with a friend who I knew needed this special kind of hope,
too.

Have to read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have been waiting on this book to publish since discovering the author.
If you are a wife or family member of an addict in active addiction, this is the book for you to read.

You can try to talk to people about what is going on, but many times they do not understand. I really felt every word that she spoke at one time or another. Being a wife that has chosen to love and support my husband through his addiction has not been an easy road. It was encouraging to see where I have gone wrong before, and inspiring to see that beauty can come from ashes.

I loved the biblical Christian insights that were shared throughout the book as a reminder that God is the one to sustain us. Many times we put everything into spouses that was never their burden to carry, and are left feeling disappointed. When we trust in the Lord and depend on him to be everything for us, we will never fail. (As stated many times in the book)

Leah is very talented in her ability to write, and connect. Many moments I felt like I was in New York or Canada right there with her!!

I will be reading this again!! I encourage you to read it too!!

This book has been written with incredible grit, despite the light-hearted self-deprecation of the writing style. Some startling points are brought forth by this difficult journey, and we begin to rethink our attitude. This is an important book for those dealing with family members with addictions.
